The disease education event will explain the role of the hypothalamic signaling pathway in appetite, energy and weight regulation. The presentation will include how impairments in the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) pathway may lead to insatiable hunger and early life onset severe obesity. Clinical patient characteristics, published patient cases, challenges in genetic diseases of obesity and role of genetic screening will be explored.
